Close against the original finish line

Quarterly review & replanning

Close the quarter against the original finish line, record lessons, and decide whether work continues, changes, or stops.

Review the original Definition of Done

At end of quarter, each outcome is reviewed against its original Definition of Done — the objectively verifiable completion condition set at the start, not a redefined one that makes the result look better.

Examine the supporting evidence. Mark the outcome Done, Partial, or Missed based on what actually happened, not what was intended.

Record lessons and unresolved constraints

For each outcome, record what was learned and which constraints remain unresolved. A missed outcome with an honest lesson is more valuable than a quietly redefined 'done.'

Decide whether the work should continue, change, or stop. The platform does not automatically carry unfinished outcomes forward — that decision belongs to the owner.

Revisit the destination and constraint

Revisit the one-year destination and the current operating constraint before choosing the next quarter's outcomes. The constraint may have moved; the destination may have sharpened. The next quarter is chosen against current reality, not last quarter's assumptions.

Preserve history

Historical plans and decision records are preserved. A closed quarter stays closed — its outcomes, evidence, and lessons remain readable so the company can see how its direction evolved and why.

Do not present drafts as approved plans. A quarter that was never approved is not part of the historical record of decisions the business owned.
