Choose no more than three outcomes, each with one owner
90-Day Outcomes methodology
How to choose no more than three quarterly outcomes, each with one accountable owner and a verifiable Definition of Done.
The three-outcome limit
Initial company planning supports a maximum of three approved quarterly outcomes. This is not an arbitrary productivity tip — it reflects how founder-led service businesses actually allocate finite attention.
Overloaded priorities get surfaced, not hidden. If everything is a priority, nothing is. The limit forces the owner to choose what matters most this quarter and to defer the rest deliberately.
Any future higher-capacity configuration must be explicitly governed by approved Frontier rules. The platform will not silently let a fourth outcome slip in.
One accountable owner per outcome
Every outcome has exactly one accountable owner. Ownership is a person, not a committee, not a department, not a shared 'we.'
Built does not mean owned. A milestone can be built by many people, but accountability for the outcome rests with one named individual who answers for whether the finish line was crossed.
What every outcome must include
An outcome title, a link to the one-year destination, the operating constraint it addresses, one accountable owner, and a quarter-end deadline.
A Definition of Done — an objectively verifiable completion condition, not a vibe. A lag measure (the result you are trying to move) and a weekly lead measure (the behavior you can influence this week that predicts the lag).
Three to five milestones where appropriate, a first seven-day action to start immediately, dependencies, required decision authority, status, and supporting evidence.
Outcome states
Draft, Proposed, Approved, On Track, Off Track, Done, Partial, and Missed — each appropriate to a specific point in the workflow. A draft is not a commitment; an approved outcome is.
The platform never silently changes an approved finish line. A material change to scope or ownership requires a change record, so the history of what was decided and when stays honest.
